David Stratton was born in the very late 1950s, the youngest of 6 children. He was born in Hebburn but grew up in Wales and London. He took early retirement after 15 years of working for an international media company, having been the UK Payroll Manager and before that a Fleet and Finance Manager. Part time work has included chauffeuring and working for a company at University graduation ceremonies. Hobbies include playing pool and snooker, watching rugby and tennis and cooking for large parties or at BBQs. He once had 6 Opel GT’s in various states of repair, his personal car was imported from Florida and fully restored before being taken to classic car shows. He has recently taken up leisure cycling and learning Spanish.

I am Juliet Stratton (nee Medcalf), a 1960s baby, the eldest of 3 children. Most of my childhood was spent abroad in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, returning to the UK in the summer of 1978. I have spent my life working in Facilities or as a PA to various directors before retiring from work in 2016. I enjoyed volunteering for local charities whilst in Peterborough and thrived on becoming involved with the administration and fund raising side of the charities. Hobbies include astronomy, reading, photography and more recently, learning Spanish.

We met in the 1980s in Aldershot (where David was in the Army and I was a barmaid) and we were married in Llanelli, South Wales before moving “up the valley” to a small village in the Brecon Beacons where we bought a house and lived for several years. Employment improvements took us to Hereford then back to London and Kent and finally up to Peterborough where we have been “settled”  since 2000.  Our family home was sold in 2016 and our chattels have been in storage since then!

We are certainly “travellers” enjoying the challenges that different countries bring, learning about their cultures and history, and more importantly, exploring their food and wines.

Robin was born in 1990 in South Wales and Caitlin was born in 1999 in Kent.  Robin is in an IT role and Caity works for a personal health care company in Liverpool.

Our “home/base” is now in Spain, outside Alicante, where we live half the year, surrounded by salt lakes, the sea and orange groves.  The other half of the year we like to travel and explore.
