{"id":3095,"date":"2017-11-16T16:01:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-16T16:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.samsonandsuzi.com\/2017\/11\/16\/vistas-de-valencia\/"},"modified":"2021-06-17T22:12:05","modified_gmt":"2021-06-17T21:12:05","slug":"vistas-de-valencia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samsonandsuzi.com\/?p=3095","title":{"rendered":"Vistas de Valencia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A day trip out to the beautiful city of Valencia reminded us that we are just tourists and therefore will be charged Tourist Prices for a drink in the sunny square right under the most popular church in the city!!   \u00805 for a 330ml beer and \u00808 for a sugary sweet flavourless Sangria bought us back to earth with a bump, having got used to \u00803 for a pint, \u00801.50 for a soft drink and \u00801.50 for a glass of wine in Benicassim.!!nnWe were spoiled by the choice of Tapas available and enjoyed several mid morning as well as a bowl of paella late afternoon.  We had been to Valencia before and felt no need to rush about and explore churches, the parliamentary buildings or fantastic architecure, so just wandered and took photos in between eating and drinking!  Sticking with the food theme, we wandered into the Mercat (fresh meat, veg and fish market) and soaked in the sounds, smells and sights.nn<div id=\"attachment_721\" style=\"width: 664px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/samsonandsuzi.com\/img_7295\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-721\" class=\"size-large wp-image-721\" src=\"http:\/\/samsonandsuzi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_7295-1024x616.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"654\" height=\"393\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-721\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One small selection of tapas! You take a plate and eat as much as you want, you are charged per &#8220;stcik&#8221; left on the plate.  Cream cheese was popular here, topped with strawberries, crispy bacon and cherry tomatoes; egg mayo was topped with crispy bacon or avocado; goats cheese topped with sardines or fried aubergines; mini croissants filled with cocktail sausages and fried onions!!<\/p><\/div>nn<div id=\"attachment_716\" style=\"width: 664px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/samsonandsuzi.com\/img_7316\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-716\" class=\"size-large wp-image-716\" src=\"http:\/\/samsonandsuzi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_7316-1024x708.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"654\" height=\"452\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-716\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of the many salad, fruit and veg stalls.<\/p><\/div>nn<div id=\"attachment_715\" style=\"width: 664px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/samsonandsuzi.com\/img_7317\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-715\" class=\"size-large wp-image-715\" src=\"http:\/\/samsonandsuzi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_7317-1024x577.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"654\" height=\"369\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-715\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At a charguterie stall, you can buy parma ham ranging from \u008069 per kilo (on the right) to \u0080189 per kilo on the left.  Behind the counter you will find the &#8220;cheaper&#8221; range, averaging \u008015 per kilo!!<\/p><\/div>nn<div id=\"attachment_714\" style=\"width: 664px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/samsonandsuzi.com\/img_7321\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-714\" class=\"size-large wp-image-714\" src=\"http:\/\/samsonandsuzi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_7321-1024x812.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"654\" height=\"519\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-714\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The butchery counters are the same as the charcuterie, you can buy fresh rib beef at \u008010 per kilo or aged (read yellow fat, mouldy bone ends) beef at \u008090 per kilo!! The statues represent worldwide nationalities that the church reaches out to across the world and are 20 feet tall.
